Cameras Start Rolling Next Month In London For Emily Blunt’s ‘Mary Poppins Returns’

Dec 23, 2016

Disney is going to be quite busy between Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Han Solo and Star Wars: Episode 9, but they have even more movies in the pipeline beyond that.

One of those other films is their sequel to Mary Poppins starring Emily Blunt (Into The Woods) as Mary, Emily Mortimer (The Newsroom) as Jane, Ben Whishaw (Spectre, Paddington) as Michael and Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack. Other roles will go to Meryl Streep and Colin Firth with a cameo from original actor Dick Van Dyke.

The sequel will indeed begin production next month in London.

Into The Woods and Chicago director Rob Marshall will be tackling the sequel with a script penned by Life of Pi and Finding Neverland screenwriter David Magee.

In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Mary Poppins Returns is slated for release on December 25th, 2018.
