Jun 1, 2016

Brie Larson was our top pick to play Carol Danvers after her Best Actress Oscar win earlier in the year, and now Variety reports she’s now the frontrunner for the Captain Marvel role.

Sources tell Variety Marvel is in early talks with Larson to play Captain Marvel in the studio’s standalone project. It is unknown where things stand in negotiations, but sources have told Variety that Larson is the first choice, and that she’s leaning toward playing the part.

Whoever the actress lands the role is expected to be apart of Avengers 3 and Avengers 4 shooting this fall in some sort of capacity, along with her own solo film.

A director has yet to be hired for the Captain Marvel project.
