‘Captain Marvel’ Screenwriters Following Frontrunner Brie Larson On Twitter; Hint To Casting?

Jul 22, 2016

You might remember, after Brie Larson‘s Best Actress Oscar win for Room, we put it out there that she would make an excellent candidate to play Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. It was reported she was in talks for the role and since then we haven’t heard a peep about other actresses.

Captain America himself Chris Evans endorsed his Scott Pilgrim co-star.

“I just heard that today!.. I really hope that happens, I love Brie Larson.. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson, I think she’s phenomenal and I really hope that happens.”

Larson just happens to be at Comic-Con this weekend to promote Kong: Skull Island with Thor‘s Tom Hiddleston, there is strong speculation she’ll be announced for the role during the Marvel panel this Saturday.

A little social media love seems to be backing up the theory, as it pointed out to us by followers @OfficialRafaRio and @darth_muppet.

Screenwriters Nicole Perlman (Guardians of The Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) have followed Brie on Twitter, one following her might be nothing to make us notice, but both of them have followed Larson recently.

Instagram and Twitter followings have tipped us off in the past, so it’s something to consider but not a smoking-gun. We should know for sure on Saturday during the Marvel Studios panel.
