Avengers: Infinity War‘s production is said to be ending on July 14th, so we have potential new details concerning a scene from the yet to be titled Avengers 4.
Omega Underground has uncovered an extras casting call for Japanese gangsters (likely referring to Yakuza) and Japanese cafe patrons. Specifically, they’re calling these roles Japanese and not just Asian, suggesting Japan could be a possible location in the film.
*Japanese Gangsters (Background/Extras):
-Slender build, this will be a night shoot and will involve rain work and facial prosthetics.
*Japanese Cafe Patrons (Background/Extras):
-Females and Males 18-80
This rainy scene is being shot between August 17-18 which suggests it’s not for Infinity War but Avengers 4. Shooting on Avengers 4 will take place starting on July 17th and will run until December 13th in Atlanta (possibly other undisclosed locations as well).
A Japanese setting and the involvement of the Yakuza (enemies of Daredevil and Wolverine over the years) would be interesting as this “could” and I stress “could” have some sort of connection to The Hand, which have become a thorn in the side of plenty of the Netflix characters. A version was also seen in Fox’s The Wolverine.
It remains to be seen how they could actually be used in the film, but they make for excellent onscreen bad guys.
Characters like Spider-Man or Black Widow might be at this point after the events of Infinity War. Both have tackled organized crime threats before, and Spidey really hasn’t gone up against the mob in any of his films like he has in his comics. It’s been established that Yakuza are active in New York City but it sounds like this scene could most likely be set in Japan.
Iron Man 3 shot scenes in China, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther have shot on location in South Korea, it’s possible Japan might have a small role to play in the next installment.
