Dark Universe hasn’t even had it’s the first installment released but producer Alex Kurtzman is already talking up future actor acquisitions. While also speaking with Fandom, he revealed that they’d love to also see Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, and Jennifer Lawrence join the franchise.
“I’d love to bring Michael Fassbender in, I’d love to bring Jennifer Lawrence in, I’d love to see Charlize Theron in there, Angelina Jolie…”
He didn’t expand upon where they would figure into the films but it might be safe to assume that they’d have a lead role, not a supporting role. I don’t think many would argue they’d make excellent vampires in either Van Helsing or Dracula films.
He also doubled-down on naming Angelina Jolie, who has been linked for about two years for the role of The Bride. Along with Dwayne Johnson and Scarlett Johansson, who have been said to be in the mix for a while as well.
Current estimates put the domestic opening for The Mummy at around $35 million. This is not only soft for a film spending so much on advertising but also for a massive blockbuster starring Tom Cruise. It’s unlikely they’ll have another Dracula Untold on their hands, but I think it’s still extremely early to be assuming they’ll land everyone they want and that Universal will be able to wrangle them.
