Variety has got confirmation that Christopher Nolan‘s next film at Warner Bros. will indeed be an action film based on the WWII evacuation of the seaport of Dunkirk. Tom Hardy is in talks to reunite with the director for their third project, alongside Bridge of Spies‘ Mark Rylance and Valkyrie‘s Kenneth Branagh. They add that yet to be cast unknowns will lead the film, I assume the three named will play officers or Germans.
The story is set during the legendary evacuation of the northern French city during WWII. Nolan and his casting department recently began testing teenagers in London for lead roles, but the director also wanted to nail down some choices for the few adult roles in the film before the holiday.
It’s release date is set for July, 2017.
