CinemaCon 17: 20th Century Fox Panel

Mar 30, 2017

On the final day of CinemaCon 17 20th Century Fox started off the show with an amazing light show with hip-hop performers. They then dove right into their upcoming 2017 slate of films with tons of exclusive trailers!

They first kicked off their presentation with an extended trailer for the previously released Captain Underpants. This was released a couple weeks ago online.  However, some new scenes were added in as well. Next Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn came on stage to promote their upcoming mother-daughter film Snatched. With a brand new trailer shown along. From here the studio turned to their book adaptations promoting their upcoming semi-reboot Dairy of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. Which features a brand new cast than previous installments. As well as the upcoming survival film A Mountian Between Us starring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet.

Next, the studio introduced both an extended clip as well has the world theatrical premiere trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes. Which looked more into the war between Caeser (Andy Serkis) and The Cornell (Woody Harelson). The trailer was then released online after the event. Which you can view HERE.

The studio then turned to their upcoming spy thriller, Red Sparrow. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton. If you are still waiting for Marvel to make a solo Black Widow movie this might be the best alternative. It shows a Russian prima ballerina get injured on stage. To be hired by the Russian government to seduce and assassinate their targets. After this Ridley Scott came on screen to debut an extended trailer for Alien: Covenant which is sure to be a million times scarier than Prometheus ever was. Without giving anything away Micheal Fassbender’s android character David is certainly not what he appears. John Cena then entered the stage to promote his upcoming Blue Sky’s animated feature film Ferdinand. Where he voices a gentle and warm hearted massive bull.

The studio then debuted the premiere trailer for Matthew Vaughen’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Which has the Kingsman agents travel from the UK to Kentucky to meet up with the Statesmen to take dow the evil criminal organization The Golden Circle. Also, confirms that Colin Firth’s Harry Hart will indeed return from the dead in the upcoming sequel. Which also features Jeff Bridges and Channing Tatum as Statesmen.

To close out the show Hugh Jackman came on stage to promote his upcoming 1930’s musical The Greatest Showman. However, he first went on to thank everyone at Fox for allowing him to make Logan the way he wanted to make it. Which is going to pass $600 million at the worldwide box office. He then debuted the first trailer for The Greatest Showmen even though the film is still in production. It features stars Zac Efron and Zedaya as well as Michelle Williams in the star-studded cast. They then ended the show with a great live on-stage musical number from The Greatest Showman.

Unfortunately, the studio didn’t mention one thing about X-Men: New Mutants, the untitled X-Men: Apocalypse sequel or Deadpool 2 during the entire presentation. Which was a major letdown to say the least. For more updates from CinemaCon 17 click HERE.
