It seems like Colin Trevorrow stretched himself too-thin while on set for the filming of Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom as a producer and also expected to write/prep Star Wars: Episode IX. He seemingly wasn’t able to turn in a script Lucasfilm was happy with after multiple attempts and eventually exited as the director with J.J. Abrams replacing him.
Well, his work ethic on the Jurassic World movies has paid off as there is confirmation from Steven Spielberg while speaking with EntertainmentWeekly that Colin will be returning to direct Jurassic World 3 which he’ll be co-writing with Emily Carmichael.
There is a good chance due to Chris Pratt‘s potential commitments for Guardians of The Galaxy 3 (begins filming next February in Atlanta) that Jurassic World 3 likely won’t begin filming until early 2020.
Jurassic World 3 is set for release June 11th, 2021.
