The Wrap has word that comedian Danny McBride (Pineapple Express, Up In The Air, Eastbound) has landed a key role alongside Michael Fassbender, and new female lead Katherine Waterson (Fantastic Beasts, Inherent Vice). His role isn’t being revealed but I’d imagine he would play someone on board the titular colony ship Covenant, it’s unknown if he’ll be apart of the company or one of the crew members.

This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a comedian added to the cast in the Alien franchise, as Paul Reiser’s Carter Burke, a slimeball Wayland-Yutani suit in Aliens. Burke single-handedly responsible for the outbreak of xenomorphs upon the population at Hadley’s Hope. The extent of the genocide he caused is better represented in the director’s cut of the film. Having another ruthless profit hunting scumbag in the film wouldn’t be a shocking development.
