‘Community’ Star Donald Glover Set To Join ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Jun 14, 2016

Today, it’s being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Community star and stand up comic Donald Glover is set to be cast in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. He joins a slew of high profile actors set to appear in the upcoming reboot by Sony/Marvel Studios. Including, Robert Downey Jr. appearing as Tony Stark in the film.

This is a bit of a surprise given that back when 2012’s Amazing Spider-Man was announced many fans campaigned for Glover to play an African-American Peter Parker in that reboot. The part eventually went to Andrew Garfield. However, Glover got to voice mixed race Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales on Disney’s Ultimate Spider-Man alongside Drake Bell as Peter Parker. His role in the upcoming live-action Spider-Man film however is being kept a secret. It wouldn’t make much sense if he played Miles Morales in this film given Peter Parker is still only a teenager. In the Ultimate comics Peter was much older and passed away by the time Miles became the next Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Homecoming starts filming later this month and hits Summer 2017
