CONFIRMED: ‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Finn Jones Playing ‘Iron Fist’

Feb 25, 2016

UPDATE: EW has seemingly confirmed the casting news, as the trade reports Finn Jones has indeed landed the Iron Fist lead role. I’m sure Marvel will be putting together their own press release soon. We don’t often see trades take-on rumors, unless they’ve checked with their own sources within the industry.

Marvel has found its newest superhero: Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones has landed the coveted series lead of Iron Fist.

Jones, who plays Ser Loras Tyrell on the HBO hit, will take on the role of the martial arts master, EW has learned.

Iron Fist is set to be the fourth Marvel and Netflix collaboration, following Daredevil, Jessica Jones and the forthcoming Luke Cage. Scott Buck (Dexter) has been tapped as showrunner.

Netflix and Marvel had no comment.

Much more to come…

A rumor coming from The Hashtag Show, states that Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones has been possibly cast as the lead of the Iron Fist series. The site is clearly marking the story as a rumor, so it’s not a sure-bet as of yet.

Here’s their rumor neatly put to a video.

Jones would be around the right age for Daniel Rand, and having very few projects upcoming could mean that he could commit to filming both the solo series and then Defenders.

However, it’s a bit disappointing that Marvel hired a British actor over an Asian-American actor, that’s if this turns out to be even true.

Jessica Jones and Luke Cage actor Mike Colter did recently tease during an interview that Marvel had hired an actor to play Iron Fist, but was going to keep it a secret.

Finn wouldn’t be the first actor best known for a television role hired for the Marvel/Netflix series.

Daredevil lead Charlie Cox got a huge bump in the U.S. after playing an Irish hitman in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. There’s also Jessica JonesKrysten Ritter that had been best known for her small supporting role in Breaking Bad, along with her co-star and Luke Cage lead Mike Colter coming from TV as well.

Do you think Marvel TV went and hired another lowkey television actor for the role of Danny Rand?
