Creator Rob Liefeld Inks Deal To Bring His ‘Extreme Universe’ Comics To The Big Screen

Jan 4, 2017

Today, Deadline announced that Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has inked a 7-figure deal with Graham King of Fundamental Films, Akiva Goldsman of Weed Road Pictures and Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment to bring his Extreme Universe to the big screen. When the creator left Marvel to help start Image Comics he went onto create such comic book titles as Brigade, Bloodstrike, Cybrid, Lethal, Re-Gex, Bloodwulf, Battlestone, Baboom and Nitro-Gen. These have been confirmed to be apart of the deal. However, it is unknown if his popular series Youngblood, Glory and Supreme will also get the big screen treatment.

Liefeld went onto talk about his excitement on this brand new deal:

Over the past nearly 25 years, since launching Image Comics, I’ve been lucky enough to see the power of these stories and characters as they’ve resonated with several generations of comic book fans.  To now be able to work with Akiva Goldsman and Graham King, who are powerhouses in their own right, to bring these compelling characters and conflicts to life on the big screen is nothing short of a dream come true!

Mark Gao adds “Rob Liefeld’s unique characters are in great hands with Graham and Akiva. We could not be more excited to see them bring the entire Extreme Universe to theaters and fans around the globe.” Leifeld can thank the massive success of this year’s Deadpool for this new deal. Many of his characters he has wanted to hit the big screen since the 90’s but it wasn’t until now his dream has finally come true.
