‘Creed 2’ Expected To Begin Filming This February in Philly

Oct 9, 2017

We’ve been highly anticipating the sequel to Ryan Coogler‘s Creed, a highlight of the Rocky franchise and finally giving Michael B. Jordan great commercial success after a few hiccups. News quickly spread and then confirmed, that Dolph Lundgren‘s Ivan Drago would be returning and Adonis would be seeking revenge for the death of his father at the hands of Drago in 1985.

A new production listing we’ve spotted today has revealed that the film might be coming together sooner than expected. As MGM is looking at potentially setting the production start date for February 5th in Philadelphia.

MGM has yet to name the film’s director which could be either Sly Stallone or even a returning Coogler. However, Marvel’s Black Panther is releasing around this time and Jordan is expected to be involved in the worldwide press rounds, so we’re a little hesitant to say this start date is 100% at the moment. But, it’s nice that production might be returning to Philly once more.

It’s expected that Tessa Thompson will return as well.

The studio has yet to set a release date for the film, but since it got Oscar love last time around we suspect an awards-friendly fall or early winter release is very likely.
