CW’s Black Lightning Series Finds its Lead

Black Lightning is one step closer to taking its place alongside the CW’s other DC Comics shows. 

After Fox passed on the series produced by Greg Berlanti, it was ordered to pilot at the CW. Variety and SlashFilm are reporting that the CW has cast its lead actor for the role of Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning.

Veteran character actor Cress Williams has been cast in the lead, written by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil to be Executive Produced by Berlanti. Williams is a veteran television actor appearing on series like Prison Break, Friday Night Lights and Hart of Dixie.

The pilot is based on based on the DC character Black Lightning, created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden.
