Daniel Craig Wants To “Go Out On A High Note” Won’t Be Back For ‘Bond 26’

Aug 16, 2017

Don’t expect any Bond 26 announcements to include Daniel Craig‘s return.

Despite the unkillable fake rumors for about a year that Craig had signed a two-picture deal (a whopping $150M contract) with Eon to play Bond in two more films. Craig while announcing his return for Bond 25, also confirmed it would be his final outing as James Bond.

COLBERT: So listen, will this be the last Bond? Can you tell me if you’ll do the one after that?

CRAIG: This is it. I just wanna go out on a high note. And I can’t wait.

We should expect Eon and MGM to look elsewhere for a new 007 in Bond 26. Also, to potentially start the ball rolling for the next wave if Daniel is truly finished here.

Some recent rumblings suggest that new Bond could possibly be Tom Hardy, although, no major outlets are reporting this.

There’s been a campaign of sorts from fans to see director Christopher Nolan reboot the franchise with his muse Hardy as 007. Nolan has been open to the idea and even mentioned on MTV’s Sad Happy Confused podcast recently that he’d endorse Tom as James Bond and wouldn’t mind working with the Bond producers if he was needed.

“He’d be amazing,” said Nolan of Hardy in the role last played by Daniel Craig. “He really would.”

“I’d love to work with them at some point … [but] I’d have to be needed,” Nolan said about possibly directing an adventure for the famed Brit. “I think they’ve got a really good thing going.”

Nolan’s sticking point seemed to be since his Batman days that he wants to be the one to reinvent the next incarnation, meaning the one with the next 007. Nothing is concrete as can be expected with rumors, but if they’ve figured out Daniel is done after Bond 25 we should assume they’ll be ready to get going on signing on a new actor as soon as possible.
