It looks like Warner Bros. wants to be in the Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash, Safe House, Child 44) business as the studio is in-talks with the director for two high-profile projects.

First, earlier in the month it was reported that Espinosa was talking with the studio to direct Blood On Snow which is based on the book by Jo Nesbo. His other book Headhunters was turned into a great thriller from The Imitation Game‘s Morten Tyldum.

Leonardo DiCaprio is producing and eyeing it as a starring vehicle, since there are multiple books it could lead to sequels.

A hitman, who after failing a recent job, must go on the run from the mob along with his former boss’ wife.

The next project as reported by The Wrap is the science fiction action franchise-in-the-making Morningstar. Details are scarce but it’s said that will have a Cold-War thriller feel to it.

The script written by David Birke, who recently penned Paul Veroheven’s thriller Elle along with the Texas Chainsaw origin film Leatherface. The studio is apparently looking for a director capable to “world-build”, so the idea might be create a large cinematic universe within this new mythology.

Espinosa has been flirting with franchise projects for a while now being linked to big studio projects like X-Men First Class, The Wolverine, Assassin’s Creed, and Star Trek 3.
