World War Z 2 might actually be finally coming together.
There is a bit of an update as they’ve hired a visual effects supervisor. Oscar-winner Eric Barba, who is best known for his work on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron: Legacy and Oblivion has joined the film. His other work for David Fincher includes Zodiac, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl.
We were all shocked when it was announced that director David Fincher would be replacing J.A. Bayona, who jumped ship to make Universal’s Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom instead.
The respected director had been opposed to making a big studio film after his horrid experience making his feature film debut on Alien 3. The studio and producers ended up throwing him under the bus when it didn’t hit box office expectations, even after they made the filming experience a nightmare for him. Producer and star Brad Pitt was seemingly a driving force behind wooing Fincher.
The film’s script was developed by Steven Knight and Dennis Kelly.
World War Z 2 is without a release date but is expected to begin filming next year.
