‘Deadpool 2’ Heads Back To Xavier Mansion As Filming Begins In Vancouver

Jun 17, 2017

It looks like cameras have started rolling on Deadpool 2 (Love Machine) as it’s been revealed by local source CTV News Vancouver (spotted by Omega Underground) that production has returned to Hatley Castle, which has doubled for the X-Mansion in multiple X-Men films.

The film’s publicist confirming to CTV the film’s name is Love Machine.

Film crews took over Hatley Castle, which has long stood in for the Xavier Institute in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men films, at Royal Roads University Friday. An air of mystery still surrounds the shoot as the university and the South Island Film Commission wouldn’t confirm details, only saying a production was filming at the castle.

The film’s publicist told CTV News crews were shooting a movie called “Love Machine,” but an online search shows that’s the working title for Deadpool 2, starring Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds.

Friday was the only day of filming scheduled for Hatley Castle.

This would mean production has officially started almost ten days ahead of schedule. Unless, this is second unit pick-up shots before principal photography is expected to begin on Monday, June 19th and wrap on October 6th via updated production dates Omega Underground has uncovered.

The news isn’t terribly shocking as it’s been confirmed that characters such as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus would be returning for the film. It remains to be seen if we’ll actually get to see Xavier this time around. However, Sir Patrick Stewart has expressed an interest to cameo in the Deadpool sequel while on the promo tour for Logan.

Deadpool 2 is set for release on June 1st, 2018.
