Today, Deadline announced that Universal is hot on getting their Hobbs & Shaw spin-off Fast & Furious movie off the ground. According to the report Deadpool 2 and John Wick director David Leitch (formally a stuntman) is the frontrunner to helm the upcoming project. The project would see former agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) team up with criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) in the new film.
Chris Morgan penned the script after writing most of t he other films in the franchise. The recent announcement of the spin-off came off some beef that came between the actors on set with Dwayne Johnson. Most recently Tyrese Gibson calling out Johnson for pushing back Fast & Furious 9 in order to get Hobbs & Shaw off the ground.
Hobbs & Shaw is slated to hit theaters July 26th, 2019
