‘Deadpool 2’ Looking To Shoot This January In Vancouver?

Nov 6, 2016

Fox’s upcoming Deadpool 2 had a couple of blows recently losing director Tim Miller over “creative differences” with star/producer Ryan Reynolds and then it’s composer Junkie XL leaving in solidarity with Miller.

Fox and producers seem to be full-steam-ahead looking for a new director.

It’s been reported that John Wick‘s David Leitch is a frontrunner to direct, while Deadline says Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods) and Magnus Martens are also in the mix.

Although, it doesn’t look like the director search will delay the production schedule as much as some assumed.

According to Vancouver production website What’s Filming?, Deadpool 2 is still looking at a production start in the month of January.

Their upcoming production section includes the new February start date for The Predator, which will also shoot in the Vancouver area. So, it’s more than likely this Deadpool 2 production start is on the up-and-up.

If this is indeed the case, the studio is going to have to announce a new director extremely soon and finalize the cast to start pre-production on the film.

Deadpool 2 is rumored for a January release date, but that’s unlikely due to direct competition with Joe Carnahan’s Bad Boys For Life. Also, Fox has slatted the Maze Runner: The Death Cure in that spot.

Fellow R-rated X-Men flick Logan has a March release date, so it’s possible Deadpool 2 could be released on March 2nd, 2018 (also reserved for one of Fox’s Marvel projects). The only other film in that spot currently is Jason Statham and Domino candidate Ruby Rose’s Meg, which would move in a heartbeat if Fox placed Deadpool 2 there.

The studio is currently looking at actors to fill the roles of X-Force members Domino and Cable.
