‘Deadpool’s Ed Skrien Joins ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Will Play Cyborg Villain
The Hollywood Reporter has learned Game of Thrones and Deadpool actor Ed Skrien has been cast as unnamed cyborg villain in Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel.
Rosa Salazar is playing the titular Alita with Christoph Waltz as Doctor Ido and Jackie Earle Haley playing another undisclosed cyborg henchman.
Set in the 26th century, Alita tells of a female cyborg (Salazar) that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals.
More than likely he’ll be playing Clive Lee, one of Vector’s many cyborg thugs that Alita has to fight. It also comes down to what version of the story is being adapted.
This is slightly amusing that Robert would hire a cast member from Deadpool, as he turned down the chance to direct the project early on during it’s development.
There are plenty more roles to fill, so more names are expected to be added to the cast.
Production will begin this October in Austin, Texas.
