Today, marks the first day of production on Marvel and Netflix’s upcoming superhero 8 episode mini-series The Defenders. The series will bring together street level heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) to battle a new threat played by Sigourney Weaver.
So far we have heard many co-stars of the individual shows let slip they may appear in the crossover but nothing definite has been announced. Today, Marvel announced that Karen Page played by Deborah Ann Woll as well as Detective Misty Knight played by Simone Missick will return for the mini-series. It was assumed these characters would play some part in the crossover along with Rosario Dawsons character Clarie Temple. Who’s shown up in every Netflix show to date. We also heard that Jessica Jones next door neighbor Malcolm (Eka Darville) may also appear in the series.
The real question is will Jon Bernthal return as The Punisher sometime during the mini-series? Currently, he is filming is own spin-off right now so it may be hard logistically speaking for the actor.
