Denis Villeneuve Reportedly Has The Backing of Daniel Craig To Direct ‘Bond 25’

Sep 25, 2017

DailyMail reporter Baz Bamigboye is one of the only reporters we 100% trust when it comes to James Bond news and he is reporting on Twitter that Daniel Craig is backing director Denis Villeneuve for Bond 25.

Months back, it was reported that Bond 25 had three directors on the shortlist which included Denis, David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water), and Yann Demange (’71, White Boy Rick). Mackenzie seems to be out of the running as he’ll be busy for the next year with his Scotish historical flick The Outlaw King, currently shooting in Scotland. I also don’t see producers forking over $200M+ budget to a director with limited action credits and large action sequence experience.

Denis is coming off Sicario, Arrival, and has the massive studio production Blade Runner 2049 coming out next month. He’s an Oscar-caliber pedigree like Skyfall’s Sam Mendes making him the best option in my mind. In twenty-four films, Bond has never been to Canada, so there is some hope that Denis can convince producers to have scenes set in Montreal.

Bond 25 is set for release on November 8th, 2019.
