The highly successful world of Despicable Me and Minions is adding another film to the franchise and it looks steeped in 80’s nostalgia.

The trailer for Despicable Me 3 introduces us to the world’s newest surpervillain, Balthazar Bratt.

Bratt is voiced by Trey Parker, one half of the duo who brought us South Park. Bratt is a former child star from the 1980’s whose show is canceled once the young star hit puberty. This loss of identity puts him on the path of super-villainy with the goal of world domination (as one does).

Gru (Steve Carrell) and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) are tasked with taking him down and the trailer shows Bratt using an array of 80’s inspired weapons like a Rubik’s Cube and Keytar to stop them. Also on hand are the ubiquitous Minions to lend a hand.

Despicable Me 3 is written by Ken Daurio (The Secret Life of Pets) and Cinco Paul (The Lorax). It is directed by Kyla Balda and Pierre Coffin (Minions). Despicable Me 3 will be released in theaters June 30, 2017.
