It’s the final showdown against the Arkham Knight and her forces at the Gotham Observatory. Batman and Robin decide to make their presence known as Astrid works to get her final plan in motion.

Astrid has erected a virtual fortress for the dynamic duo to traverse and it becomes even more difficult when she finally unleashes the next part of her plan. Batman and Robin must race against the clock to stop Arkham Knight before her plans permanently damage the people of Gotham.

I’ve gone back and forth on this storyline since it was started by Peter J Tomasi. There are moments that work and others that fall flat, but Tomasi manages to craft a satisfying conclusion with this issue. Everything from the pacing to the dialogue works and the stakes are sufficient enough to hold the interest of the reader. Tomasi keeps the story moving and challenges Batman in multiple ways that showcase the power of the dark knight.

There are some great character moments in this issue and the ending is a great cliffhanger. I am interested in seeing where this story goes next and what the next arc is.

The art by Brad Walker looks amazing. All of the action scenes are beautifully detailed. Great care was taken in the look of the panels and that care is evident in how well the art flows with the story.
