Dec 8, 2015

News on Marvel’s and Netflix’s fourth show Iron Fist has been minimal at best. With Daredevil and Jessica Jones in the books ate Netflix. Then next years Luke Cage hitting the small screen; many wondered will his buddy Danny Rand really move forward at Netflix. There was some rumblings by legitimate sources that Marvel simply is trying to find the right avenue to take Iron Fist that keeps him grounded like the other Defenders shows. There was then other rumors that the show was going to be cancelled completely…which turned out to be false all together.

Today, Comicbook.com got the scoop that Dexter producer Scott Buck has been tapped by Marvel and Netflix to showrun the upcoming Iron Fist series. Marvel TV president Jeph Loeb commented on Scott Buck joining Iron Fist:

“Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”

With a showrunner announced for Iron Fist it is only a matter of time before casting begins on Danny Rand. Many fans have chosen The Guest star Dan Stevens (above) for the role. Of course in true Marvel fashion they will probably go with a unknown actor for the job…

A small synopsis on the show was also revealed:

“Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”

After Iron Fist comes debuts Marvel and Netflix will delve into a crossover event for The Defenders mini-series. Which will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist come together to battle an even bigger evil on the streets on Hell’s Kitchen.

Iron Fist will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2017
