Director and Writer Hired For ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot; Andrea Riseborough Should Play Lara Croft!
We’ve been patently waiting for news concerning Warner Bros. reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, which has been given new life with the recent game installments. Taking a more grounded and gritty take on the treasure hunter, making her more compelling to land a string of movies.
Variety has word that Norwegian director Roar Uthaug (The Wave, Cold Prey, Escape) will helm the film, while screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet is in talks to rewrite Evan Daughtery’s draft of the script.
It’s promising news, but let’s just hope they hire the right actress to play the badass Lara Croft. I think they should be considering someone like Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion, Being Human, Welcome To The Punch, Shadow Dancer, Birdman) for the role, as I’d like to think they’d try to avoid hiring another American attempting a piss-poor British accent.
