Spider-Man: Homecoming is coming out very soon and reactions to the film have been extremely positive. There has been some hope that director Jon Watts would be sticking around for the three films and it sounds like his return for Spider-Man 2 is now a given.

Watts has confirmed to Collider that he’s “signed for two movies”. While both Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal have been in agreement that they expect him to return.

It’s been assumed that Spider-Man 2 will be the first installment in Phase Four.

Details on the sequel are unknown but it’s expected via THR another Avenger would be co-starring in the film. The candidates we assume are in the mix are fellow New York resident Doctor Strange, Brooklyn kid Captain America, or even possibly Ant-Man.

Omega Underground expects that shooting will likely begin May 2018 in Atlanta, once Captain Marvel wraps production there. As Pascal has revealed the film begins pre-production this August aiming for a shoot in April-May.

Spider-Man 2 has the release date of July 5th, 2019.
