Last year during production on FOX’s Fantastic Four reboot rumors sprung up regarding up-and-coming director Josh Trank. According to still unconfirmed reports the director had trashed his rented apartment during the filming process. Then just last month the director had become “ill” and couldn’t make the Star Wars Celebration Panel with the first Star Wars Anthology director Gareth Edwards.
Now a new report has come out stating that director Josh Trank has dropped out of the second Star Wars anthology film because of his actions on Fantastic Four. Most likely at the request of Simon Kinberg writer for Fantastic Four and producer of the second Star Wars anthology movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter the director became quiet “distant” in terms of direction of the Fantastic Four. They even go on to say the director was being isolated from the rest of his crew. Which lead to Disney questioning his commitment to Star Wars. That maybe a film this large is simply to big for such an inexperienced director.
Now the hunt is on for a brand new director that can handle something as massive and time-consuming as Star Wars but with Both Star Wars: Episode 7 & 8 plus Rogue One coming out within the next three years Disney has more than enough time to find a better director.
