FOX’s upcoming X-Men spin-off Gambit can’t seem to catch a break. The Wrap has learned that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt has left the project due to budgetary issues with the script. This comes off speculation that Channing Tatum almost left the project a few months back because of problems with the script.
Production cost has since grown on the project that filming has been pushed from December of this year to February. It’s unknown however if the film will make its October 2016 release date…
Director Rupert Wyatt went onto release a statement about his project:
“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.“
In other news producer and X-Men writer Simon Kinberg does go onto confirm Channing Tatum’s Gambit and Ryan Reynolds Deadpool will eventually crossover into the main X-Men films eventually:
We’ve sort of reset the timeline after Days of Future Past in some ways, and if not erased, certainly allowed for change from X1, 2, 3, everything from Days of Future Past forward, 1973, everything we set now becomes canon
Gambit it scheduled to hit October 2016
