‘Dredd’ Live-Action TV Series ‘Judge Dredd: Mega-City One’ Announced

May 10, 2017

A sequel to the cult hit Dredd might not be in the works with Karl Urban.

However, it was announced today by Entertainment Weekly that a new TV Series is in the works titled Judge Dredd: Mega-City One. It will be produced by IM Global and independent U.K. games developer Rebellion:

The show is set in a future where the East Coast of the U.S. has become a crowded and crime-ridden megalopolis. It will be an ensemble drama about a team of Judges — futuristic cops invested with the power to be judge, jury, and executioner — as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them.

An outlet hasn’t picked it up but it could very well end up on streaming services Netflix or Hulu to keep its graphic violence. A platform Karl Urban and Fans have petitioned since the original film in 2012.

No cast has been set but this leaves the door open for Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby to reprise their roles.

While the show is still in the early stages of development, and no talent has yet been announced, today’s news will be music to the ears of many who were left wanting more onscreen Dredd after the release of the 2012 film.
