Emily Carmichael To Direct ‘Lumberjanes’ Movie For Fox

Aug 10, 2016

The Wrap reports that indie filmmaker Emily Carmichael has landed the directing gig on 20th Century Fox’s adaptation of the popular female centric comic book Lumberjanes.

The story of five young girls at summer camp who must unite to fight a supernatural threat to the camp and the surrounding forest.

It sort of sounds like something the Stranger Things and Goonies crowd will love.

Emily recently landed a directing gig at Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment for her movie Powerhouse, which will be produced by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World, Star Wars: Episode IX) and Simon Kinberg (Star Wars: Rebels, Rogue One, X-Men franchise).

Carmichael also recently participated as one of the writers on the Pacific Rim 2 script.

She’s been mentioned as being in the running to direct Brie Larson in Captain Marvel, but I wouldn’t be too suprised if Lucasfilm came calling instead, considering two Star Wars alumni are producing her film Powerhouse. It’s been rumored she had meetings recently with Disney for undisclosed projects.
