EXCLUSIVE: Irish Actor Sam Hardy Auditions For Disney’s ‘Artemis Fowl’ Lead

Sep 22, 2017

Disney is currently in the heat of casting Kenneth Branagh‘s Artemis Fowl movie with open auditions taking place in Ireland as we previously reported. We also got ahold of four main character breakdowns which are making their way for casting calls.

Artemis Fowl the 2nd, a young Irish criminal mastermind, who kidnaps the fairy LEPrecon officer Holly Short for ransom to fund rescuing his father. Once a transaction is made, they go on a hunt for the evil pixie Opal Koboi and rush to save Artemis Fowl senior from the Arctic.

Variety recently reported that Dame Jedi Dench is in talks for a role, and it sounds like she’ll land it as Dench and Kenneth have a longstanding working relationship.

Now, Omega Underground has exclusively uncovered the first name in the mix for the role of Artemis Fowl. As Irish actor Sam Hardy as recorded an audition tape.

The role of Artemis is open to all ethnicities as long as the young actor has an Irish accent, as the location is steeped in the story and characters. Disney has used open casting calls for multiple recent projects including Jungle Book, Aladdin, and Mulan, allowing newcomers to get huge breaks.

Here is our previous info on the Artemis casting call, character breakdown, and audition dates.

*ARTEMIS FOWL*

-Male 5’3 (9-13)

-Open To All Ethnicities

-Needs An Irish Accent

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: At first glance Artemis could be mistaken for a rather ordinary child with little athletic ability, but his eyes reveal a flickering of intelligence; inquisitive and possessing both academic and emotional intelligence, he is highly perceptive and good at reading people; most importantly, Artemis is warm-hearted and has a great sense of humour; he has fun in whatever situation he is in and loves life. No previous acting necessary.

Auditions (by appointment only) will take place in the following Irish cities Galway (September 29-30), Dublin (October 1st), and Cork (October 14th).

We have also learned that production is taking place in Ireland and the UK starting in January.

Disney recently slated Artemis Fowl for the release date of August 9th, 2019.
