EXCLUSIVE: ‘Shazam!’ Audition Tape For Freddy Teases Shazam Jr. – Confirms ‘Justice League’ Connection

Oct 1, 2017

Omega Underground has exclusively uncovered a new audition tape for David F. Sandberg‘s Shazam aka Franklin.

This new tape is for the character Freddy Freeman aka Shazam Jr, part of Billy’s foster family and the Shazam family.

Actor Brendan Heard (Odd Squad, Hannibal) is seen here on tape auditioning for “Frank“, but reveals himself as having a disability making us believe this is actually for the role of Freddy.

Frank has a superhero obsession owning a replica of Batman‘s Batarang and a shell casing from a bullet that bounced-off Superman himself, establishing that both Justice League heroes exist in New Line Cinema’s branch of the DCEU.

In a previous audition tape, Superman is also referenced.

Frank (Freddy) mentions how badly he wants the powers Billy has due to his disability. In the comics, Freddy becomes a fellow superhero known as Shazam Jr.

There isn’t confirmation concerning villains (Black Adam is expected not to appear) but there was a nod in another audition tape that the Seven Deadly Sins could be the threat of the film.

The Seven Deadly Enemies of Man, also known as the Seven Deadly Sins, are seven powerful demons, based on the seven deadly sins enumerated in Christianity, who serve as occasional foes of Captain Marvel. The Enewho can take control of both humans and superheroes. The Sins were captured by the wizard Shazam many years ago and encased in seven mockingly cartoon-like stone statues, which were placed in the Rock of Eternity.

We were previously able to confirm that Shazam will shoot February 5th until May 4th in Toronto. Its release date has been slated for April 5th, 2019.
