‘Expendables 3’s Patrick Hughes Replacing Jeff Wadlow As Director On ‘Hitman’s Bodyguard’

Mar 10, 2016

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that director Jeff Wadlow has left the Ryan Reynolds action flick Hitman’s Bodyguard because of commitment to a Netflix project starring Kevin James.

Instead of delaying the project, the studio has hired Expendables 3 and Red Hill director Patrick Hughes to step in and replace Wadlow.

Bodyguard centers on the world’s top protection agent (Reynolds) who has a new client: a hitman who wants to turn in evidence. Unfortunately, the two have been on the opposite ends of their scopes for years and are not too happy about the pairing. But now they have to work together as villains come out of the woodwork to stop the hitman from testifying in the Hague.

The big action flick has a really interesting cast that includes Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Selma Hayek and Elodie Yung (Daredevil).

Hughes was able to juggle a lot of high-profile action stars on the set of Expendables 3, I’m sure they’re confident he can do it again.

Production starts in early April with location shoots planned to take place in London, Amsterdam and Bulgaria.
