The Hollywood Reporter (via Screen Rant) has dropped confirmation that Expendables 4 is indeed still happening as the German-speaking distribution rights had been nabbed by Splendid.
Their report reveals that Expendables 4 will be the final installment and is aiming or a release date in 2018, hopefully they’re smarter this time and return to that hard R-rating.
The tongue-in-cheek Expendables films have been good business for the Cologne-based distributor, which has released all three previous movies. The first three Expendables have earned close to $30 million in combined revenue at the German box office. The fourth and final Expendables is set for a 2018 release.
With an estimated 2018 release date a production start sometime in 2017 would make sense.
