Yet another interesting bit of production news this time revolving around J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World as it looks like Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2 aka Fantastic Beasts 2 might be looking at a possible production start this March.

The script written by Rowling, was completed during the summer as confirmed by director David Yates during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

J.K. Rowling’s eagerly awaited Harry Potter spin-off movie doesn’t come out until November, but the author has already written a sequel script to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. And the second film will be quite different than the first, director David Yates tells us.

“We’ve seen the script for Part 2, for the second movie, which takes the story in a whole new direction – as you should, you don’t want to repeat yourself. The second movie introduces new characters as she builds this part of the Harry Potter universe further. It’s a very interesting development from where we start out. The work is pouring out of her.”

Warner Bros. has already scheduled Fantastic Beasts 2 for a release date of November 16th, 2018 by and was expected to begin shooting in 2017.

Little is known about plot details, but it’s said the sequel would explore some of the Wizarding community in Paris, along with the introduction of a younger version of Albus Dumbledore played by a new actor and likely to become a major player in the franchise.

While this production information doesn’t seem to mention a location shoot taking place in Paris. Rowling did confirm on Twitter some of the film does take place there.

David Yates confirmed to Screen Rant that Albus Dumbledore will indeed have a role in the sequel and interactions with Newt.

“In the second movie Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt… We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good. [Laughs]”
