Deadline has learned that Inherent Vice and Steve Jobs actress Katherine Waterston has landed a key role in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, a sequel to his prequel Prometheus. Waterston will be next seen in the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.
Her role isn’t being disclosed, but it’s likely the part that they wanted Rogue Nation actress Rebecca Ferguson to take. Then again, it’s a colony ship they’re casting, so it’s possible there are multiple human roles to fill here. One of the female leads is expected to carry on the next three films for Ridley Scott, but it remains to be seen if Katherine is indeed playing this role in the film.
