‘Fifth Element’s Tricky Will Play Section 9 Team Member Pazu In ‘Ghost In The Shell’

Nov 1, 2016

Tricky aka Knowle West has revealed via his Instagram account his role in Rupert Sander’s Ghost In The Shell movie.

He states his character will be Section 9 investigator Pazu, while showing off another actor’s excellent monk costume during the shoot in Hong Kong over the summer.

Before joining Public Security Section 9, Pazu was rumored by various police circles to have been a gangster in several yakuza groups in Japan. Pazu is the backup “jack-of-all” for the field agents and is also a known chain smoker within the unit.

Originally, we thought West was playing a monk as well via an official set photo with him in a monk costume posing with the anime directors, composer, director Rupert Sanders and lead actress Scarlett Johansson.

Tricky is best known as a legendary British trip-hop musician appearing on multiple 90’s film soundtracks including Strange Days, The Crow: City of Angels, Lost Highway, Face/Off, The Replacement Killers, and Half Baked.

We’ve assumed that Kenji Kawai will be handling the score since he was spotted on set and nobody else has been announced for the job. Considering the futuristic setting of the film we wouldn’t be terrible shocked to see Tricky contribute music to the film possibly for a club scene or the soundtrack.

His most notable acting role was playing Gary Oldman’s raspy voiced henchman Right Arm in Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Word is a trailer is coming very soon, stay tuned.
