A German teaser trailer for Star Trek Beyond has been making the rounds online, and we expect a domestic one from Paramount anytime soon. However, the footage seemingly does reveal Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba‘s characters in the film, Elba expected to be the main villains. The two are seemingly at odds here, but it’s unknown if they’re from the same alien race.

We had hoped Klingons would be the focus of the film, but it looks like we’re dealing with a new alien race, unless these are somehow a version of the Cardassians.
The trailer itself has more action than likely the last two films put together, and it’s not surprising as it’s new director Justin Lin helped make the Fast and Furious franchise the juggernaut it is today. In the trailer the crew also have seemingly been marooned on a planet, it looks like their new deep space mission has given them more trouble than expected.
