Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant hasn’t started rolling, but we might have our first behind-the-scenes photo thanks to Hateful Eight actor Demian Bichir.
The Oscar nominated actor posted the following photo on his Instagram account.
Demian is being prepped for some effects work by getting a plaster cast of his head and shoulders. The assumption that it’s for his character from the effects-heavy Covenant.
This could mean a bunch of different things, including Bichir might be playing an engineer, an android, will have a horrible violent death or he’ll be turned into another black goo zombie.
20th Century Fox was very much believers of the “mystery-box” approach for the production of Prometheus, it sort of hurt early promotion for the film and led to many audience members being completely confused about the project’s connections to the Alien franchise.
Many film blogs had the studio have them pull set images pulled off their sites, to keep the project nobody knew about even more secret.
Fox recently schooled everyone with their amazing social media campaign with Deadpool and director Bryan Singer flooded us with set images from X-Men: Apocalypse.
There’s some potential that this image might be a step in the right direction and we’d hope to see the studio a bit more open to showing what’s happening behind the curtain. It’s unlikely that Ridley Scott will be posting pictures, but the cast on the other hand could be.
The rest of the cast comprises of Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Alex England, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez.
Production will take place soon in Australia and the release date has been officially slated by Fox for August 4th, 2017.
