Fox Re-Confirms That Simon Kinberg To Direct ‘Dark Phoenix’; Returning Cast Announced

Jun 14, 2017

Just three hours after Omega Underground was able to confirm Collider’s rumor that Simon Kinberg will be directing X-Men: Dark Phoenix, 20th Century Fox made it official via Deadline. Along with announcing the film’s returning cast.

Fox has formalized plans for Dark Phoenix, the next installment of the X-Men franchise. This all just happened, but they’ve formalized Simon Kinberg as director

Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee are all reprising when production begins in Montreal.

This becoming Kinberg’s directorial debut should make many fans including myself extremely nervous that it could turn out to be a horrible disaster. Only time will tell.

Jessica Chastain is currently in talks for the role of Empress Lilandra, who will likely be the villain of the film along with The Shi’ar Empire (we first reported on).

Omega Underground reported that Toby Huss and Alexa Swinton have auditioned for potential roles.

Production is said to start on June 28th with its release date slated for November 2nd, 2018.
