‘Furious 7’ Director James Wan to Helm DC’s ‘Aquaman’

Jun 4, 2015

The same week that Entourage: The Movie debuts (which has a long running “Aquaman is lame” gag) DC has announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Saw, The Conjuring and Furious 7 director James Wan has officially signed onto helm Aquaman starring Jason Momoa. The script (which had two separate versions) was also announced to be written by 300 screenwriter Kurt Johnstad who obviously has strong ties with Zack Snyder.

At one time 300: Rise of an Empire director Noam Murro was rumored for the gig but then James Wan named entered the mix. Wan who gave us several good small budget horror films blew audiences away with Furious 7 after the tragic accident of Paul Walker and how he gracefully handled his character of Brain O’Connor. Clearly with Furious 7 reaching $1.5 Billion dollars Wan was the obvious pick for DC Comics and Warner Brothers.

In lesser James Wan news the director has also signed onto direct Robotech based on the anime for Sony Pictures but first will work on The Conjuring 2 before anything else.

Lastly, over the weekend Jason Momoa attended the Phoenix Comic-Con where he shared some small tidbits about the movie where we are Omega Underground were in attendance. Check it out HERE.
