Hollywood Reporter states that Hasbro and Paramount Pictures have struck a deal that would help create their own cinematic universe at the studio, not unlike the Marvel, DC, Star Wars, King Kong, and Universal Monsters cinematic universes already out there.
Apparently, this film universe it will include the properties G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Rom, M.A.S.K. and Visionaries. This makes some sense as the Joe franchise is almost exhausting where they can go and the characters they can add to the lineups, having some of these properties fold into one giant pile makes sense to keep things going. Micronauts, Joe and Rom had comic runs at Marvel, so this could be the reasoning behind Paramount putting them all together.
Paramount is still moving forward with G.I. Joe 3, and there is active script development on a Micronauts movie.
I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t eventually attempt to include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers into this heap of crossovers, but for now it looks like they’re just going with the IPs listed.
