Lexi Alexander (Punisher: War Zone, Arrow, Green Street Hooligans) has been hinting on Twitter and in a recent interview on the Nerds of Color podcast that she’d be interested in pitching for Marvel’s Iron Fist series for Netflix. Considering the project has neither a showrunner or writers, we’ve been keeping close tabs on Lexi’s comments, as nobody has really talked interest in the project. There are even rumors circling that the show’s stalling is due to a lack of vision at Marvel.
Alexander has also come out like ourselves and is promoting the idea of Asian leads for the series, which we hoped would be on the table considering the lack of representation of Asian superheroes in the MCU.
Now, comic book writer Gail Simone has chimed-in as well and posted on Twitter she’d “kill to write” Lexi’s version of Iron Fist. Gail has a huge amount of comic book credits which include Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Red Sonja, Secret Six, Birds of Prey, Deadpool, Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, and Agent X. While I think she’d nail-down a solid story with Lexi, they’d of course need a group of television writers to turnout scripts for thirteen episodes.
I love the martial arts characters. A bop movie or Iron Fist movie with @Lexialex would be a dream thing. Kill to write that.

Yes. Gail and I can solve this issue if they let us. https://t.co/0PBygKk48U

So we have a director and now a writer interested in making the Iron Fist series, I’m curious if Marvel will actually take this into consideration.
