‘Gambit’ Adds ‘Logan’ and ‘Stranger Things’ Concept Artist

Nov 23, 2017

We have been following the behind the scenes development of Fox’s X-Men spinoff Gambit starting Channing Tatum over the last couple months.

Previously, we revealed that Coen Brothers alum Jess Gonchor (No Country For Old Men, True Grit) will be handling production design on the Gore Verbinski (The Ring, The Mexican, Pirates of The Caribbean 1-3) film.

Pre-production is underway with location scouting taking place in New Orleans. Casting has begun as well with  Lizzy Caplan in talks for an unnamed female lead role. Omega Underground recently reported that Fox is eyeing a shoot that is expected to take place between February and July of next year. There is a good chance that they’ll be using stage space at Big Easy Studios, where Fox shot Logan and Dawn of The Planet of The Apes.

Now, we’ve learned that concept artist Aaron Sims will be working on Gambit. Sims owns Aaron Sims Creative, a design and visual effects company which we suspect will be working on the film as well. The VFX side recently worked on Stranger Things and The Conjuring 2.

The company’s design credits include Logan, X-Men: First Class, Dawn of The Planet of The Apes, War  For The Planet of The Apes, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Thor, Power Rangers, Jupiter Ascending, G.I. Joe 2, TMNT 1-2, and I Am Legend.

Here is some artwork from Aaron Sims Creative.

Gambit is set for release on February 14th, 2019.
