IGN is claiming that Rocksteady is possibly working on remastering both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for Playstation 4/XBox One, dubbed the Arkham Collection and could be released just in time for Christmas. It’s unknown if the games will be just upgraded with the current engines or will get new content and missions. Also, no word if they’ll be doing the same for Origins.
There’s been announcements that Arkham Knight would be the final Batman game from Rocksteady, and this could be the perfect send-off the game studio wants for fans allowing them to enjoy Asylum and City on current gen.
We’ve seen a trend of games getting remastered with Grand Theft Auto 5 and Halo 2 via The Master Chief Collection, the latter being the more extreme overhaul.
It’ll be interesting to see if other franchise games titles will get remastered down the line. Remastered current generation console collections of Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, and Resident Evil seem like the best candidates for release in the future.
