Deadline reports that Crazy Rich Asians actress Gemma Chan has joined the slowly-growing cast of Captain Marvel. Gemma will reportedly play Kree villainess Minn-Erva aka Doctor Minerva.
She’ll join an impressive cast which already includes Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, and DeWanda Wise.
We suspect since it’s looking like both the Kree and Skrulls will be antagonists of the film with the Kree-Skrull War being explored, it’s not a hard stretch of the imagination to think that a version of the Kree supervillain team Starforce could be making its way into the film. Minvera being a prominent member of Starforce might be a big hint.

The Kree supervillain team consists of Minvera, Korath (seen in Guardians), Captain Atlas, Shatterax (an Eternal), Ultimus, and My Own Supremor.
They first appeared in Avengers #346 in 1992 which makes them fair game for Marvel to use if they wanted to.
Captain Marvel is expected to begin filming around March 19th in Los Angeles with its release date set for March 8th, 2019. The production had also been recently spotted location scouting in Lousiana as well.
