Having an impressive collection to display and enjoy just got that much easier. Gemr (https://gemr.com/) is a social media style website that allows users to create a virtual display room for all of their treasured collectables and gems. Not only are you able to upload pictures of your comics, pin and unique bottles, but you can browse and become jealous of other Gemr users’ collections. Dave from Gemr tells us that they aim to allow collectors to show off what they collect and connecting with other collectors.

Search Results

Searching for other people’s collections is quite easy!

With sites like Pinterest where people can have dozens of boards to show the things they are interested in and think are cool and fun, Gemr is a way for the collectors to show off what they’ve got and see how others bask in the glory that is their showcase. Gemr is a great way for people all over the world to get together and share what they physically have, for collectors to find pieces to add to their collection or even to correctly place an item in their collection that they didn’t know the facts behind (such as date, significance and even worth)

The App makes it very easy to track what you have!

Dave tries to describe how Gemr sets itself apart from other sites like Pinterest or Instagram that lets people show off boards and interests so we can show off all of our treasured items digitally “The biggest differentiator probably would be the fact that everything you are uploading you physically own, you haven’t created it you’re showing it off, and you can catalog all your stuff too. We have something called crowd scoring. Someone can go on who is your friend on the site and they can say, “I think your (blank) is worth this much money, or I think it’s worth this much money. And you can go in and backfill all the data…you can go in and create the story for all the items you have.”

Who says that comic book and video game collectors get to have all the fun?

Right now, there are just under 30,000 users showcasing, wanting and backfilling their collections. Some advice that Dave wants to give people who are new to the site, is for them to download the new updated apps for Android and IPhone users “it makes the experience really easy on uploading items, figuring out what to do and looking at other people’s stuff on the site, which is part of the fun.” The apps allow for multiple uploads to make filing and tracking your collection easier, which is a relief for those of us with hundreds of comics and individual toys to start showing our collections. Just from taking a brief look at the site itself and a few collections, it is easy to see how Gemr allows you to browse other collections seamlessly and become jealous, even after just a 5 minute glance!

Gemr makes it a fun way to find other hobbyists and collectors out there that you normally wouldn’t run into. The site is a way to find those niche collections and brag about the items you have. There are different forums or clubs, where Gemrs can go to connect, discuss or buy and sell. Collecting isn’t just a hobby for the comic book fans, there are clubs for every specific collections; die cast items, classic gaming, rare bottles, classic clocks you name it there’s a club for it. Dave puts it simply “if you can collect it, we’ve got it on the site”.
