Get Ready for February 27th, Pokemon Day!

Jan 12, 2016

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Pokémon Red and Blue. To celebrate, on February 27th, also known as Pokémon Day, Nintendo is releasing a special 3DS bundle which will include the original Pokémon Red and Pokemon Blue games pre-installed. The bundle will also include two cover plates featuring the artwork from the original games. If you are not interested in the bundle, Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow will also be available to download in the 3DS shop as well.

Throughout the year, Nintendo also plans to release 12 of their full-length Pokémon feature files on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon. Did I mention they are all digitally remastered as well?

And for all the amiibo collectors that may have missed out on catching their favorite Pokémon amiibo the first time around, Nintendo plans to re-release some of its best-selling Pokémon amiibo’s such as Charizard, Greninja, Jigglypuff and Lucario.

For the gamers still working on collecting them all, there will be a Monthly Mythical Pokemon Distributions starting February 2016 for Pokémon X, Y Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

That’s not all but this year will be the debut of Pokemon Go, the real-life monster-hunting game for mobile devices as well as Pokken Tournament for the Wii U.

This sounds like it’s going to be a great year for Pokemon fans. I can’t believe it’s already been twenty years since I chose Squirtle as my starter. Now all I need is a surprise release of the much rumored Pokémon Z, or whichever 3DS version they are conjuring up next.
